About
I'm Abanoub Fathy, a healthcare marketer who started behind a pharmacy counter.
I studied pharmacy because I wanted to understand how medicine works. I moved into marketing because I realised something else: the best treatment in the world does nothing if the patient never reaches it.
That gap — between what healthcare offers and what patients actually experience — is the whole reason this brand exists.
The path
From pharmacy to healthcare marketing
I began in pharmaceutical sales and brand management in Egypt, where I learned how medical products are positioned and how physicians make decisions.
I then moved to a medical marketing agency, where I saw the same problem repeat across very different clients: strong creative work, weak connection to the patient's actual journey.
Today I lead the marketing function for a healthcare facility in the UAE — campaigns, content, community events, digital channels, and the operational side of marketing that most people never see. Running a full marketing function alone teaches you something no course does: everything is connected, and the weakest link decides the result.
Alongside that, I run a hyperlocal marketing practice and teach healthcare marketing to professionals entering the field.
The turning point
The campaign that worked and still failed
We ran a campaign with a solid budget. The creative was strong. The targeting was accurate. Leads came in exactly as forecast.
Bookings barely moved.
The instinct was to rebuild the ad. Instead, we traced the journey from the first click. Leads were waiting hours before the first call. Some had forgotten why they registered. A few were called at times they could never answer.
The marketing had done its job. The system around it had not.
Since then, I've never judged a healthcare marketing campaign by its leads alone. I judge it by what happens after the click.
What I believe
Five things I hold to as a medical marketer
Start with the patient, not the service.
Every campaign begins with a real need, fear, question, or decision — not with the service we've been asked to sell.
Marketing is a system, not an activity.
A campaign cannot succeed alone. It is tied to operations, response time, booking, and the experience that follows.
Creativity must solve something.
An idea that attracts attention but solves no patient or business problem does not belong in healthcare marketing.
Clarity without shallowness.
Complex ideas can be made clear without being emptied of meaning.
Every insight ends in an action.
If knowledge does not turn into a step you can apply and measure, it stays decoration.
